How We’re Tackling Climate Change in Dublin Bay

Help Care for Our Oysters’ Habitat

Oysters are mini eco-engineers who work hard to bring about positive environmental change. We need to ensure they have the right conditions to do their job.

Our oysters live in “Oyster Gardens” that hang from the marine pontoons. The Oyster Gardens are marine boxes that allow the oysters to filter water and maximise their spawning potential, fostering a healthy marine habitat. These boxes attract other sea life such as sea squirts and biofilm that must be cleaned off occasionally. We also assess our oysters to make sure they are happy and healthy.

What You’ll Do

Clean inside and outside of marine boxes.

Release starfish and other creatures back into the water.

No heavy lifting required! But always take care beside deep water.
